About Jennifer Walske

Dr. Jennifer Walske

Dr. Jennifer Walske is a visiting scholar and distinguished faculty (Cheit Award Recipient) member at Berkeley Haas. She is a writer, researcher, and investor, serving on multiple for-profit and non-profit boards. Her research focuses on funding and scaling startups, particularly social startups and social venture capital firms.


Dr. Walske has earned numerous awards, including the “Best Paper” award from NYU Stern’s Social Entrepreneurship Conference and the Cheit Award for Teaching Excellence at Berkeley Haas. She has held leadership roles including: Program Director of Conscious Leadership and Social Innovation at USF’s School of Management, Interim Faculty Director of UCLA Anderson’s Center for Impact, Faculty Director of the Global Social Venture Competition and Director of Social Entrepreneurship at Berkeley Haas.

 

Prior to her career in academia, Jennifer was a nationally ranked software analyst by Institutional All-American and a regular commentator on CNN and CNBC. She also held senior level marketing roles at Synopsys and Intergraph. She holds a doctorate from Boston University, an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a BA from UC Santa Barbara.

Her book with Laura Tyson and Elizabeth Foster, on scaling social startups, was rated a top 20 entrepreneurship book in 2022 by Amazon.
